Figure is definitely the man with the drumstep plan. After starting out producing Electro-House, he has definitely become a household name in dubstep and drumstep, releasing top-quality bangers on the regular over the last couple of years. Remixing and bootlegging tracks from many genres, you can always expect the biggest and best from his releases. Most recently, he has put out a remix of Zeds Dead & Killabits latest release Bassmentality (the original was featured on Electrokill). In this post I would like to focus on two of his other recent remixes.
First, Figure has created an instant classic with his take on the epic theme from Beetlejuice. He hails from Eerie, Indiana, so I find it fitting that he often features ghostly melodies in his tracks. This one features some epic samples, while intelligently leaving the beloved original melody relatively untouched when it counts, and flawlessly remixed right when it should be. It is 150bpm, which is a fast dubstep tempo, but has a definite drumstep feel to it as well. I think Figure’s description ‘Ghost With the Most Step’ works best.
The second track is one that I had to hear to believe. Oasis’ Wonderwall is one of those tracks we all heard in the 90’s over and over, until we couldn’t stand it anymore. Nevertheless, it is still a great song in and of itself. I was skeptical until I heard Figure’s masterful remix, and then couldn’t wait to play it for others. Check it out for yourself. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
If you haven’t heard it already, be sure to check out his collabo with Tommy Lee on ‘Pounds of Blood’. Another awesome track featuring the master drummer killing a drumstep beat alongside Figure’s epic production. As always, be sure to support the artists you love, on Facebook or Soundcloud, and especially by
buying their tunes!
