About Parker:
First starting his rise smashing chumps via DJ battles, Bristol’s Parker soon turned his hand to production gaining “lofty comparisons to the marvellous RJD2″. The driving soul and deep bass of his debut album To Eternity was described by DJ Magazine as having thrown “stylistic doors open wide with deliciously pleasing results”.
This exploration of different musical realms is what defines Parker, and what makes him “uncategorisable”. After the blissed out beats of his early work Parker ran full pelt into to more bottom end frequencies. Amongst his numerous bass laden treats, Parker’s remixes of James Brown and Bjork both topped the Hype Machine Chart, whilst ‘Where’s My Monkey?’ made him a household name. Parker’s accomplished and varied production has also been used to effect by the BBC, EA Sports, Ministry of Sound and Playstation.
2011 saw Parker make another sidewards shift into pastures new, joining forces with fellow Bristolian Boca45 as one half of The Beekeepers. The result was ‘Apiculture’ a feast of chilled out beats, hip hop production and dubby bass which featured a myriad of delicious vocal sounds from leading lights in the UK scene.
As a DJ Parker has gained a reputation as one of the most versatile cross-genre selectors in clubs today. Bringing together the vital elements of Bass Music, Parker effortlessly glides between glitch hop, dubstep, garage, house and DnB with ease. His undisputed deck talents have see Parker smash stages at Glastonbury, Shambhala (Canada), Big Chill and Bestival, as well as various club hot spots across the globe including FabricLive.
Parker’s latest offerings will come courtesy of his new label Monkey Butler, giving him absolute freedom to open those “stylistic doors” even further. Who knows what sound he’ll be running, or inventing next, one thing is for sure, it’s guaranteed to be something different.
About the mix:
Here's a new mix for you. Essentially it's made up of a snippett of all the music I love at this very second and represents the sort of shizz I play live. It's all mixed together using my actual hands, ears and eyes, with plenty of cuts and with helpful commentary from the Monkey Butler. If you're feeling it can you please spread it to the edge of civilisation for me?
