Maarten Vorwerk: The saga continues... (How the biggest EDM tracks of 2013 are a sham)

[PLEASE NOTE THESE ARE JUST SPECULATIONS, MAARTEN VORWERK & JOSH HERMAN DENIED THE EXISTENCE OF THE CONTRACT MENTIONED IN THIS ARTICLE]

First of all, you must read this article about Maarten Vorwerk before you keep reading this post since what you are reading now is kind of part 2. I've just received by a source that wants to remain anonymous a copy of a contract between "Maarten Vorwerk" and "J. Herman" for the purchase of two recordings "Master-demos" for the "very decent" price of €30,000. Is the contract real? is the contract fake? unfortunately we can't tell 100% since it's from an anonymous source but note that DVBBS' manager and Maarten Vorkerk denied its existence.

My first question was "Who is J. Herman?" (Because we already know who Maarten Vorwerk is). After a few google searches and digging around I found out that Mr Herman is actually DVBBS, Borgeous and Down with Webster's manager from Strvctvre management.

After finding that out, it kinda made sense! Maarten was already ghost producing for Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and now DVBBS and Borgeous wanted in too.

So what are the 2 "master-demos" or songs involved in this contract? You might have guessed it already, "TSUNAMI" and "STAMPEDE", two of the biggest EDM songs of 2013 (if not the biggest)! (If the song names don't ring a bell, listen below, you've heard them before, no doubt about that!)

So what does all that means? That means our friend Maarten Vorwerk ghost produced some massive bangers and sold them instead of releasing them as his own. I believe fans deserve to know who is responsible for creating any given song, and should not be deceived. Using someone else’s work for your own gain, even if it’s purchased is wrong and goes against what making art/music is all about.

If you want to have a look at more music that Maarten Vorwerk ghost produced check out his allmusic.com page. Can't believe he even produced for Will.i.am!

UPDATE #1: Josh Herman contacted me personally accusing me of creating this fake contract which I can assure you I didn't (I have some photoshop skills but not anything close to being able to do something like this). He told me this is a forged signature and that this is defamation so I've removed the contract from the post.

  1. Both tracks sound annoyingly the same. Lame shit if you ask me, but that's just an opinion.

  4. listen, this is how most of the music industry is built, regardless of genre. any hit you see on TV or hear on the radio is a product. A pretty face like rihanna is put in front, and there are HUNDREDS of people behind her creating this product. This happens everywhere, even in hiphop they have ghostwriters for rhymes.

  13. I don't care who made what, as long as I enjoy what the sound does to me. Tsunamis' drop is glorious, though the other song I am not a fan of.

If Jazzy Jeff takes time out of his day to call these FAKES out, then there must be something wrong.

What is the point in being a "DJ" when the music your playing is not yours? a monkey could use serrato or traktor. If rihanna's music is being produced by other people at least she is still performing it and entertaining people. These guys just stand on stage and act like idiots. These fakes are becoming the idols of young kids, what a disaster it will be when they look back and realize that it was all a money grab. There are some incredible electronic artists, but these guys, and this shit needs to be put a fucking stop.

  19. Anyone can write a contract and make a fake signature. I don't say this is or this is not a fake, but nothing proves that what you're saying is right.
(It wouldn't bother me, I can't stand Dimitri vegas and like mike, and Tsunami/Stampede, while being commercial hits, have no originality at all. And with the new release of DVBBS, Raveology, they did achieve to remove any respect I had for those guys. Seriously they just added the drop vocal to Vinai's Hands Up)

  20. I worked with Dvbbs a while back when they weren't big. Guys are cool, but they really can't produce, chris is okay...alex doesn't know anything.

  22. running fb ads to mexico city or india is VERY common. Almost every major producer/dj does that.

Also where do you draw the line on someone helping and someone completely ghost producing? If David Guetta comes in with a concept, textures, ideas, structure, etc. and works with a musician and a technician ... HE IS STILL THE PRODUCER!

a movie producer doesnt hold the camera, write the script, nor act in the film (unless he's mel brooks). Producing just means you want something to exist and then you put the things together to make it exist.

Lastly, if these ghost producers are making the biggest songs in EDM music, THATS AMAZING! They deserve grammys

  23. have people not realized this has been going on for ages? and that it is a very common thing amongst all the big-name "producers". I know people who make their living off of ghost-producing...cough SHM, cough

  24. its been confirmed fake how long are you going to leave this up for its old news

    ReplyDelete
  25. A lot of these big djs ( who were supposed to be producers as well) are working with big studio professionals, engineers, composers, vocalists...........
when the smaller djs do everything by themselves.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Even if the contract is real, at least the producer got paid really well. Of course that this is just a tiny fraction of the millions made by Dvbbs, Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike from DJ gigs, but it's much better than the price range of many ghostwriters out there (200-300 $).
