Dancing With The Stars' Best Performance in 18 years with Martin Garrix's Animals

Dancing with the stars (the popular American TV show) used Martin Garrix's "Animals" (EDM song of the year 2013) in one of their episodes and it was rated as their best performance in 18 years of running this show. I'm pretty confident they will use a lot more EDM into their performances.

Watch below:

'Lords and Princelings of Douchedom' says Anthony Bourdain about EDM Fans

Anthony Bourdain (Chef and TV personality) dislikes EDM. He hates it so much that he dedicated 3 minutes of his show Parts Unknown to the subject on CNN.

"It's a DJ's world and where once they used to say, 'Cocaine is God's way of saying you have too much money,' now, maybe EDM is," he said with no reservations.

In an episode focusing on Las Vegas, Bourdain explained during an interview with magician Penn Jillette that live performance acts were being "squeezed out" in favor of EDM gigs. After the magician explains that he simply does not understand the changing of Sin City's guard, the chef asks, "Are we just old? Or are we non-douchey?"

Jillette laughs and shrugs off the comment. "You want to spin the latter, I'm afraid it might be the former." But Bourdain, in voiceover, is not convinced.

The chef recalls Vegas' former "Gods," like Wayne Newton and Danny Gans. "What's the big money draw now?" he asks. "This." And the screen cuts to a generic rave scene.

"Come ye lords and princelings of douchedom," he said. "Hear my clarion call. Anointeth thyself with gel and heavenly body spray. Maketh the sign of the devil horns with thine hands. Let there be high fiving and the hugging of many bros, for this is the kingdom and the power."

He tries to speak to DJ Jason Lima, who works at the Marquee and defends his profession. "What are your dreams like?" Bourdain asks. But as the DJ answers, saying he has images of strobes, the production gets fuzzy and peters out.

Aiden Jude – Ghost Producers publicly revealed (Are you surprised?)

Last month we published an article about a 10 year old music producer named Aiden Jude who released his first single on beatport called “Tonight”.

According to a press release by Universal Music Publishing, it was revealed that Aiden Jude was not really the one who produced "Tonight" but Carlos Escalona “co-wrote” Aiden Jude’s song along with the vocalist Nafsicawith.

Carlos Escalona is a songwriter who won a BMI Latin Award in 2013 for his songwriting on Paulina Rubio’s “Me Gusta Tanto.”

Ghost production is everywhere in the industry now - Read our previous articles on this hot topic:

Electric Zoo Returns With New Safety Measures & Drug Policies In 2014

A lot of our New York followers will be happy to know that Electric Zoo producers confirmed on Facebook that the EDM festival will return to New York's Randall's Island this summer, despite sparking a national debate last year when two concert-goers died of drug-related causes.

The 2014 festival will feature new safety measures, according to the Wall Street Journal, including hiring plainclothes security guards, drug-sniffing dogs at all entrances, background checks on vendors and employees and providing free or cheap electrolytes. Ticket holders will also have to watch a PSA about drug safety before having their passes validated.

"We are incredibly excited to bring Electric Zoo back to New York,” E-Zoo organizers Mike Bindra and Laura De Palma said in a statement. “Over the past five years, Electric Zoo has grown tremendously, becoming a critically acclaimed, internationally recognized music festival. The opportunity to again host Electric Zoo on Randall’s Island is a responsibility we take seriously, and we look forward to expanding our safety and security measures in order to further improve the concert experience for our fans.”

Last year, E-Zoo canceled the final day of the three-day festival (just like Future Music Asia earlier this year) after 2 party-goers died of an MDMA drug overdose. Four others were hospitalized, 31 people were arrested, and there was one report of sexual assault. By taking new precautions regarding drug safety, the organizers hope to avoid the dangers associated with large-scale EDM festivals.

Electric Zoo will celebrate its sixth year on Randall's Island. It is scheduled for Labor Day weekend and tickets will be available for purchase April 29. Party responsibly!

IMS ENGAGE - DIDDY “IN CONVERSATION” WITH GUY GERBER

WATCH: IMS ENGAGE - DIDDY “IN CONVERSATION” WITH GUY GERBER

Diddy and Guy Gerber's conversation about their forthcoming 11 11 project was probably the biggest talking point at IMS Engage 2014.

Gerber opened up the talks with how he and Diddy met and why this relationship has become what it is: “I was told to come to New York to make music together. He played me a track from my first album for inspiration.”

Diddy talked about his own fascination with electronic music by reminiscing about early trips to Ibiza and its famed DC10 Club, his own first collaboration in this space (‘Let’s Get Ill’) with Stuart Price, Deep Dish, Nellee Hooper and Felix da Housecat, and dancing to Junior Vasquez at the Sound Factory in New York.
“It’s all about the spiritual aspect of this music,” he said. “Playing from the heart and experiencing true emotions. I am always looking for DJs/producers without a set format, who aren’t afraid to clear the dance floor, who are fearless. I thought it would be cool to work with Guy after hearing him.”

On the same day as IMS Engage at W Hollywood, news broke that Diddy topped the rankings in the Forbes Entertainment list with a net worth of $700 million. Diddy, when questioned by Pete Tong on how he managed to reach this,  replied: “You all have the same 24 hours a day I do.” Probably the most memorable quote of the Summit.

A heartfelt moment of the day then came when a delegate paying compliments to Diddy, was brought to the stage for a huge hug. At IMS Engage 2013 it was the fight between two managers that caused the headlines. In 2014, it was the Diddy love-in.

DCONSTRUCTED - Disney Remix Album Out Now !

Walt Disney Records has released DCONSTRUCTED, a comprehensive compilation of classic and current music from the longstanding Disney catalog remixed by today’s hottest DJs/producers from across the globe. The 14-track collection features reworks of material from the multiple Academy Award®-winning films The Lion King and Frozen, as well as two of Daft Punk’s contributions to TRON: Legacy.

To celebrate the album’s release here is a music video featuring the Muppets for the track, “The Muppet Show Theme” (Shy Kidx Remix)

You can purchase the album wherever music is sold.
Beatport - http://www.beatport.com/release/dconstructed/1287813
iTunes - https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/dconstructed/id843864744

EDM superstars Avicii, Armin Van Buuren and Kaskade are among the electronic dance music luminaries that have lent their formidable skills to these timeless favorites. The reworked material ranges from more recent heartwarmers from Monsters University, The Incredibles, and The Muppets to beloved and lasting sounds from the Hawaiiaanette album featuring the beloved Mickey Mouse Club darling, Annette Funicello, Toy Story, Sleeping Beauty, Dumbo, as well as music inspired by the original Mickey Mouse cartoons, and the enduring theme from the Disneyland Park’s Main Street Electrical Parade.

The blending of the orchestral world of Disney with the synthetic sounds of the electronic world brings out fresh flavors. The recognizable cries and roars of The Lion King’s “Circle Of Life” mix headily with Mat Zo’s growling basslines and razor-sharp synth stabs. Daft Punk’s abbreviated “Derezzed” is freshened up with vocals courtesy of Negin and extended with Avicii’s twinkling rhythms. Similarly, the previously unreleased Japanese Popstars Remix of Daft Punk’s “Fall” stretches out that track’s inquisitive beats with layers of echo. The newly minted Oscar® winner for Best Original Song “Let It Go,” is transformed to a peak-of-the-night banger with Armin Van Buuren’s tranced out take on Idina Menzel’s sparkling vocals.

Says Van Buuren, “I feel incredibly honored to have remixed an Oscar-winning song—though I didn't know that yet when I started.”

“My first remix of Daft Punk’s TRON:Legacy was so long ago, but it was a significant moment of recognition in my career,” says Avicii. “It’s great to be a part of it again, to refresh the track, and to let everyone hear Negin’s voice.”

The makeovers of these universally appealing songs show off their renovations the most when the sounds from over half a century ago are brought to the present time. Stonebridge takes inspiration from the immutable Mickey Mouse cartoons for his new track, “Hey Pluto!” which takes Mickey’s identifiable squeak and Pluto’s barks and uses them as sound effects for the track’s creeping shuffles. Snippets of Sleeping Beauty’s carousel-like “Once Upon A Dream” are interspersed through Trion’s tweaked out remix and much of Main Street Electrical Parade’s feelgood vibe is maintained for the updated Extended Mix. Kaskade’s crafted approach to Dumbo’s sentimental “Baby Mine” maintains the original’s emotions bringing those to the present time with softly rounded beats and gently building house rhythms.

DCONSTRUCTED track listing:

1.     “Circle of Life” (Mat Zo Remix) – Carmen Twillie & Lebo M. The Lion King
2.     “Derezzed” (So Amazing Mix) Remixed by Avicii featuring Negin– Daft Punk TRON: Legacy

10 Year Old Producer "Aiden Jude" – Releases First Single on Beatport

There's a new kid on the block, if you think Martin Garrix is a young producer at 17 years old, think again! Aiden Jude, a Big Room/Progressive House producer born and raised in New York, just released his first single on beatport, at the age of 10.The release is called "Tonight" and is a Big Room banger, similar in some ways to Martin Garrix's music, we could say Big Room is now a kids game.

Jude is already performing in LA and New York, as well as opening up for Mobb Deep in Hollywood. He may be young but when it comes to music, he might just be older than you in some ways.

There's 2 ways to watch these videos, either you take notes and you try the pick-up lines yourself or just watch them and laugh, the dude is pretty funny and the girls reactions are also hilarious.

Wu-Tang-Affiliated Rapper Cuts Off His Own Penis and Attempts To Kill Himself By Jumping Off Balcony

This piece of news is not EDM related but is quite ... interesting! It was reported by TMZ today that a rapper affiliated with Wu-Tang Clan was rushed to the hospital on Wednesday after he cut off his own penis and then jumped off a second story balcony in what police believe was a suicide attempt.

TMZ's sources say ... cops were called to an apartment building in North Hollywood at around 1:00 AM and found Christ Bearer - real name Andre Johnson -- on the sidewalk critically injured.

Christ Bearer is a member of the hip hop group Northstar ... a group discovered & affiliated with members of Wu-Tang Clan. Two members of a group Bearer collaborates with live in the same apartment building and tell TMZ they were there early this morning when Christ Bearer suddenly -- without warning -- cut off his penis and jumped off the balcony.  They say they were not on "any hard drugs that would cause him to do such a thing."

The two men say they rushed downstairs and Christ Bearer had already jumped up and began screaming incoherently.

Johnson was rushed by ambulance to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.  It's unclear if doctor's are attempting to reattach Johnson's penis.

A-Trak gives us a tour of his Brooklym apartment & studio

A-Trak lives in Brooklyn and the view from his flat is nothing less than phenomenal. The producer, DJ, half of Duck Sauce and Fool’s Gold co-founder let us into his apartment for a quick tour. I have to say I wouldn't mind switching apartments with him, he has a great studio (split in two between producing and DJing), his furniture are all gorgeous and his whole place is very Zen.

Duck Sauce, his duo with Armand Van Helden, just released their long-anticipated debut LP, Quack; stream the full album right here.

Acejax - Camino (Remix EP) [Remix Contest Winners] (OUT NOW!)

We are proud to present the 3 winning remixes from the "RemixCamino" remix contest!

SweetSync & 0zan won the first place with their unique 145 BPM Trap Remix. Their remix goes places you wouldn't expect it to go. Such awesome, so wow, much intensity!

Wali Finkbeiner got the silver medal for his banging Big Room Remix, while we received a huge quantity of Big Room remixes, Wali killed it with a remix that would make "Martin Garrix" jealous. Expect to hear this one at many Festivals in 2014.

Pragmatic finished in 3rd place with a very original 98 BPM Trap/Twerk remix, totally different from SweeSync and 0zan's remix (and from all the other remixes too), this one is Twerk approved with a nice touch of gangsta music.
