15 Free Festival Bootlegs of the Summer!

If you attend EDM festivals this summer, chances are you hear tons of bootlegs! Most of the big DJs create their own bootlegs of popular EDM tracks so that it doesn't sound like everyone is playing the same music (even if at some festivals they kinda are). It can be adding a pop vocal on a more "underground" instrumental or simply replacing the drop with another one, I always like to hear what kind of bootlegs artists will come up with!

Since I know many of you guys are DJing, I have a great little collection of 15 bootlegs you can download for free, some you might have heard at EDC. Big thanks to Landis and Dimitri Wouters for these great edits!

Nicky Romero talks ghost producing in new interview

Great new interview with Nicky Romero from the WMC week. Nicky has nothing to hide and you can clearly see it in the interview, he admits ghost producing for David Guetta and more artists but to him, there is two kinds of ghost producing, one where the artists that "buys" the song brings in ideas and collaborates to the final product and the "rich dad" one, where the track is simply purchased. Does that makes it legit? What do you think?

Maarten Vorwerk aka The man behind Dimitri Vegas, Like Mike, Van Hage, Yves V & many more!

While I was composing my previous article about some big names in the music industry using young producers' bootlegs of their songs as "inspiration" to create a new remix which is essentially the same and publish it (which I would like to invite you to read if you didn't already), I stumbled upon very interesting information about a "famous" ghostproducer from the Netherlands.

Do you know the name Maarten Vorwerk? Probably not, he is the guy in the studio producing the latest house music songs you hear on the radio or the ones your favorite DJ plays while you think the guy jumping up and down on stage is the one that created it. Some artists like Benny Benassi, don't hide the fact that his brother/cousin is the one producing and he is the "dj", however, others don't want people to know they hire people to produce for them, David Guetta for example. Just look at his latest album "Nothing But the Beat" and look at how many writers are in the credits. Joachim Garraud also admitted in an interview with Ready2Move.be that he was behind some of David Guetta's productions and he said: "David is not a musician, [he] is not a technician, so he comes over with ideas, ideas samples, textures and sounds, etc., after they performs together, and it is true that it is I who am behind the machines, because they are my machines and my studio." Enough Guetta, back to our hero "Maarten Vorwerk".

[Let's make something clear right away, I never say/said explicitly "Maarten Vorwerk" ghostproduced this or this track, he might have been "helping" or "collaborating" with the artists, however I do believe that he is the man behind these titles whether or not it is advertised that way but this is my opinion and the result of the digging I've done on the interwebz]

We asked Maarten for an interview with us and (no surprise there!) he said no :'(

[Source] and his "job" on his twitter account clearly says "Ghost Producer. Professor in Gadgets. Shrimp & Vodka Lover". Need more facts/proof?

I truly believe that if you are an electro/progressive house DJ, you definitely don't need to look for music elsewhere than here...seriously!
