After deadmau5's coffee run with Laidback Luke, he did another one and this time, his "coffee buddy" is the one and only, Eric Prydz. They talk about Prydz's fear of flying, the sold out special "Pryda vs Mau5trap" night at WMC, their first jobs, how they started making music, Eric's new baby and more!

During the beginning of WMC, deadmau5 did a 26 minutes coffee run with Laidback Luke. The two talked about many hot topics like what the music industry has become, the birth of Laidback Luke’s newborn child, his marriage with Gina Turner, and the cost of Ultra. They also discussed Laidback Luke’s 10th year at the Winter Music Conference. I found this really fun to watch, you get to know a bit more the personalities behind their music.

Disney Investigates Deadmau5's Attempt To Trademark The Mouse Logo

In 2013, deadmau5 tried to trademark his signature mouse head logo. But surprise, Disney is currently looking into Joel “deadmau5” Zimmerman ‘s attempt to trademark the iconic mouse head. Just like Mickey mouse, the logo he is trying to register is a black mouse head with white eyes and mouth.

Deadmau5’s mouse head has been his signature for years, he used it on his album artwork since 2006.

Disney is not afraid to pursue legal action, they are claiming that the deadmau5 icon is too similar to the Mickey Mouse head. They think that the similarity can mislead consumers. Joel himself said in a Rolling Stone interview 2 years ago that, “Someone at the Disney patent office fell asleep on that one.” Check out a comparison of the two logos below, courtesy of legalwriter2011 from Flickr.

Disney is being given 90 days to investigate the trademark claim and present a case against it.

Due to Avicii’s hospitalization, Ultra Music Festival (UMF) decided to book the legendary deadmau5 to replace Avicii's closing set. They were probably not expecting him to troll them and the crowd so hard, if you missed it, here's deadmau5 live playing a mashup of Martin Garrix's Animals with "Old McDonalds had a farm" and Avicii's Levels. Best live troll ever? I think so...

Dyro (Hardwell's protégé) accused of stealing deadmau5 & Pegboard Nerds' music

If you think that ghostproducing is bad for the music industry (MUST READ --> Marteen Vorwerk part1 & part 2), there’s another popular trend in EDM and it’s called "straight up stealing from other music producers" (read this article we posted last summer on the topic). Many have done it (most of them deny it obviously) and many are still doing it!

After Juke Ellington accused of stealing  many tracks,  Katy Perry ripping off Dillon Francis and Sara Bareilles on the track "ROAR", Showtek accusing Flosstradamus of sample theft, Will i Am stealing Mat Zo and Arty, Wildstylez adding a hardstyle drop to deadmau5's “Some Chords” and attempting to sell it as his own track, “Straightforward.", this unfortunately seems to be a pretty common thing on the EDM scene.



Now Hardwell's protege Dyro is accused of ripping off Pegboard Nerds‘ remix of Skrillex & Damian Marley‘s track Make It Bun Dem on his track "Black Smoke". Listen to the both tracks below and find the similarities in the drops:

He is also accused of ripping off Deadmau5′s classic “Ghosts N Stuff” on his new single “Calling Out”!

My name is Eu4ya and I like to create Euphoric tracks for people. I have been a fan of Nervo for a long time and when their latest single, Reason, with Hook N Sling came out I knew I had to use it in a mashup. I also had been listening to Manila Killa's Remix of Strobe by Deadmau5 and I was a huge fan of that track at the time as well. I felt that the two would work together so I blended them together and topped it off with vocals from Wynter Gordon, Matthew Koma, and Eva Simons. The result is this mashleg!

Just a few days after declaring he needed to take a break because he was feeling “pretty miserable,” Deadmau5 has announced a new album.

I'm sure a lot of you guys are happy! I know I am! I think the album art is ridiculous though, I'm not into that "posting stupid pictures of cats on ze internet" trend, to me: DOGS > CATS !

Anyways, no free download for now... but it will come soon enough!

The epicness doesn't stop there, sick bootleg of Zedd's "Shotgun" and from there it just goes off da hook with mashups and remixes of First State, Hardwell, Kevin Miller, Lucid Beats, Marco V, Martin Solveig, Nero, Patch Werk, Rihanna, The Two Friends and Tom Molloy.
